Mind Body Relaxation Community Group
The mind body connection is powerful. Too often we allow ourselves to become emotionally or intellectually drained, ignoring the effects this has on our physical body. There are numerous life challenges that occur as we age. Our minds can become overwhelmed due to cognitive changes or from daily life chores that require more of our attention then when we were younger. Our physical body can drain our minds energy from the stressors of keeping up with daily living, chronic pain issues, and other underlying health conditions. Implementing a simple, thirty minute routine of consciously relaxing each muscle group, ending with a ten minute meditative state, is a quick tool to help us regenerate.
This is a technique that is very basic. The emphasis is not on meditation but on overall relaxation to assist our overall health. After a few months of attendance you should be able to apply this technique in your own living room, car, or anywhere, anytime you feel you need to unwind your body and quiet your mind.
This group is free and open to everyone and will meet weekly, starting November 4th, 2019 and runs to the end January 2020 with TBD for holiday weeks.
Contact; Lucinda Walker, MSW/ILS @ mscwalker@att.net to sign up or for further information.

Note: There are four couch spaces for those with bodies that need that cushioning, otherwise there are basic folding chairs that can be carried over from the church, a short walk, or people can bring their own folding lawn or other chair or a yoga mat/cushion to sit or lie on the floor.
