Benefits of Volunteering

Why volunteer? There are 4 really great reasons:

1)   We need your help.

Our Village, like most of the Villages around the country, depends on volunteers. It is one of the strengths of the program. It helps reduce the economic hardships faced by many older adults while simultaneously building relationships. We probably could not succeed without the dedication, talents, and energy of our volunteers.

2)   It is fun and rewarding.

Our system helps align the talents, interests, and time constraints of our volunteers with the needs of a member. It is not unusual for this to lead to new friendships and opportunities. Volunteers have control over when and how often they participate, and they experience the satisfaction that comes from using their skills to help others.

3)   It is a great way to contribute to the quality of life in Anderson Valley.

We have a long tradition of helping each other. It is clearly one of the attributes that makes Anderson Valley special. The Village offers new ways to contribute.

4)   You will be building a service that may someday provide help to you.

The Village is a new and important opportunity to “pay it forward”.
