Join us this summer to learn how food choices can prevent, manage, and reverse diabetes. We now know that the root of diabetes is lifestyle related, and we can make changes to live a longer, healthier life. In this class series, we’ll translate scientific findings into simple, practical steps you can take in your kitchen and at the grocery store. The benefits reaped from a diet change can help anyone with a diagnosis of diabetes, prediabetes, a family history or risk factors for developing diabetes, and their adult family members. If you’re ready for a healthy change, this class is for you!
Each class will include group discussion, engaging video lectures, quizzes, a cooking demonstration of 3 plant-based recipes as well as resources to keep you motivated at home.
When: We will meet Wednesday afternoons starting June 8th from 4-6 pm. The class will run through Wednesday, June 29th.
Where: Class will be held in the Seabiscuit Conference Room of Howard Memorial Hospital or online using Zoom.
Format: To comply with social distancing guidelines, in-person participants will be limited to 13 people. There will be room for 20 additional participants to take the class online. Online participants will be able to engage in class lectures, discussion and observe cooking demonstrations but will not be provided with food samples. In person attendees will be required to wear masks.
Cost: In person-participation will require a deposit of $50, while online participation will require a deposit of $30. The deposit will be returned to those who attend 3 out of the 4 sessions. Note: the Eventbrite fee is non-refundable.
